Il Festival
17 anni di cinema e poesia
The Versi di Luce Festival was founded in 2009 in Modica to celebrate Nobel Prize winner Salvatore Quasimodo, later extending to Gela. The festival explores the connection between cinema and poetry as tools of liberation and introspection, bringing images and words into dialogue to give shape to a unique and profound language. The event includes feature film and short film competitions, video poetry, retrospectives, meetings with critics and other cultural activities. Aimed at an active audience open to experimentation, the festival promotes contamination with other arts such as music and theatre, welcoming new visions. Over time, the festival has been enriched with initiatives that also involve schools, encouraging young people to experiment with the language of poetry and cinema. The "Youth" section, born from the "Adotta una Poesia" project, encourages students to make short films inspired by literary works, thus encouraging an intergenerational dialogue on art. Versi di Luce represents a place of free and creative encounter, an artistic journey that pushes beyond the boundaries of the visible to access the deep worlds of the unconscious.
